Uley village also supports a successful and flourishing playgroup - Uley Under 5's. Strong links are fostered between the playgroup and school, with the children being invited to the school for regular visits during the summer term prior to starting in September.
The playgroup runs every week day morning (except Tuesday) in Uley Village Hall. The morning session runs from 9.15am until 12 noon, and children aged 3 years plus are invited to stay for lunch until 1.00pm. The playgroup also offers a full-day until 3.00pm on a Thursday.
The playgroup has been awarded 'The Bristol Standard Quality Assurance Award' in recognition of their continuing provision of a high standard of childcare for the under 5's.
The Playgroup was inspected by Ofsted in February 2012 and was given a 'good' rating in the report, which means all areas inspected were of a strong standard. The Report begins:
"Overall the quality of the provision is good.
Children are happy, settled and enjoy positive relationships with staff who know their individual needs well. Overall, planning and organisation is good, providing purposeful learning opportunities that support children in making progress in all areas of their learning and development. Generally resources are of good quality. Children enjoy a safe environment in which to play, and their welfare is promoted well. The staff have worked successfully to build partnerships with parents and links with other provisions are being developed. There is a clear commitment to the continuous improvement of the provision and this leads to improved outcomes for children." DOWNLOAD FULL REPORT
